Re-Election Launch Letter

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am excited to announce my candidacy for re-election as your Mayor of Beaufort. Over the past year, we have made strides together, but I’m just getting started. There is more work to be done, and I am committed to seeing our city through what we set out to achieve together.

When I first took office, I promised to bring down the temperature in our city government, fostering a more collaborative and respectful atmosphere. I believe I have succeeded in creating a more civil and constructive dialogue that benefits all of Beaufort.

One of my core commitments has been balancing growth with preservation. As our city continues to grow and evolve, it is crucial that we manage this growth responsibly, ensuring that Beaufort retains its unique character and charm while welcoming new opportunities.

Fiscal responsibility remains a top priority. During my time as Mayor, I have consistently challenged city officials to justify spending and project costs.  I have also asked our city staff to report to the council on city-owned assets and their return on investment. If certain assets are identified as a drain on our budget and not an absolute necessity, it’s time to make a change. I believe those assets should be sold to put them on the tax rolls, where they can contribute positively to our community’s financial health.

Another key aspect of my leadership has been and will continue to be ensuring that your voice is heard. Input from the public is crucial, especially when major decisions impact you and your neighborhood. I am committed to transparency and inclusivity—no more behind-closed-doors decisions. You deserve to be part of the process and decision-making.

As we move forward, I encourage you to look at my record. Review how I have voted on the issues and compare them with my opponent. I trust that when you do, you’ll see the difference in leadership styles and who has consistently put the interests of Beaufort first. 

I have always strived to provide focused, thoughtful, and trustworthy leadership. I am delivering on my promises and am asking for the opportunity to continue this work. This election is your chance to send a message that you want me to continue the progress we’ve made together for Beaufort.
